Vehicle
What is a vehicle?
A vehicle is a machine that is specifically designed for transportation. It can be used to transport people or goods. A vehicle that is used for transportation includes; vans, bicycles, airplanes, ships and more. Most vehicles can be used to transport both people, and cargo. At Glacier Vehicles, we provide a large selection of vehicles that are excellent, for the transportation of goods. Our new refrigerated vans are great for transporting perishable goods, such as meat, vegetables and fish. We have both vans that run on petrol and those that run on diesel. We carry trusted manufacturers like Mercedes, Toyota, Nissan, Iveco, Ford, Peugeot and others that are available in the United Kingdom. We can also provide you with the specific brand and model of refrigeration vehicle that you want. You can also get a truck which is not a refrigerated one, and we will do a conversion, to turn it into a refrigerator truck.
What Are Vehicles Used For?
A vehicle is used for transporting people and goods, from one location to another. Our used fridge vans are used for delivering fresh, perishable products that have a short shelf life e.g. Food such as meat, vegetables, other frozen foods, and medical supplies. These types of freight need to be transported at a specific temperature, for guaranteed food safety.
Temperature Controlled Vehicles for your transportation & Logistics needs
Our refrigerated vehicles are excellent for transporting precious cargo. They will serve you, if your business is in the supply chain. Facilitating distribution, while protecting the quality of cargo you deliver, is essential in the cold chain, and using a refrigeration truck will guarantee you seamless logistics.
How temperature controlled Vehicle Units work
Refrigerator trucks like some dry goods panel vans, have specific processes that are responsible for making it an insulated area. The processes include;
Thermal insulation
A refrigerated van makes use of an insulated airtight compartment, which is used to store food and other precious freight. Insulation is very important, for a successful refrigerator truck. The insulation used in the vehicle is mostly of higher quality, and a lot thicker than the insulation used in a household refrigerator.
Thermal engineering
Thermal engineering is a four part process that ensures that the refrigerator part of a vehicle is fully functional. The process includes;
Styrofoam
Styrofoam helps to minimize the amount of chilling escaping the vehicle, as much as possible. For a refrigerated van, the thickness can be up to 50mil and 75mil for a freezer. The density of foam (PCF) is calculated by the pounds per cubic foot.
Wood boarding
This process ensures that the wood used in the vehicle is treated, to prevent rot, by using anti-bacterial fungicides that are safe for food.
Fiberglass
This is used as interior sheeting, in a refrigeration vehicle. It acts as a keying agent, for the GRP resin used.
GRP resin interior
The vehicle will be finished with a wet lay roller that is similar to resin flooring. When it dries, it is 100% hygienic, and becomes a loading area that can be cleaned easily. The refrigerated vans use a direct mechanism that powers the refrigeration compartment, with power generated by the engine. This powers the refrigeration, fridge system, the condenser, the compressor and evaporator.
Temperature control
This is an important process that ensures the vehicle functions optimally. The vehicle draws air from outside, and circulates it. There is a partition wall that can be static or movable, which protects the people in the vehicle.
What are the Components used in your Vehicle / conversions built with?
We use GAH refrigeration systems in our refrigerator vans. The vehicle will have a 2 temp fan kit, from GAH. There will also be a dual compartment: Insulated Coolbox/Cargo Compartment, in the vehicle. The vehicle can have a freezer supporting 0 to -25 degrees, and a refrigerator supporting 0 to +5.
